Dear Friends,
“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and The Lord Jesus Christ”.
A Special Meeting of Diocesan Executive Council was held today, Friday, October 11th to set a date for a Synod to elect a full time resident diocesan bishop for Moosonee. This Synod will take place on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Timmins.
The Executive Council appointed a Search Committee to oversee preparations for the Synod as set forth in Canon 13 (The Election of a Bishop). They include the developing of a Diocesan Profile and a Ministry Profile for Bishop, calling for nominations and preparing profiles for the nominees. At the request of Council, the Search Committee will ensure opportunities for people throughout the diocese to meet the nominees (via Zoom) and engage them in conversation.
The members of the Search Committee are:
Lay – Ed Madill (Chair), Anne Dyas (Secretary), Caroline Chum, Linda Rogers, Joanne Konopelky , Nicola Alexander, Jimmy Iserhoff, Helen Iserhoff, Frances Mark and Matthew Happyjack
Clergy- Anne-Marie Carriere, Grace Delaney, Diane Hilpert- McIlroy Gladys Matoush, Tom Stradwick,
and Vice Chancellor – Martin MacLachlan
With trust in the leading of The Holy Spirit in this great venture, members of Executive Council join me in a call to prayer throughout the diocese.
“Almighty God, the Giver of all good gifts: Grant your blessing, we humbly beseech you, to the clergy and laity who will assemble for the election of a Bishop. Help them to trust in the leading and hovering of your Holy Spirit. May the one called joyfully proclaim the Gospel of your Son and faithfully administer the Sacraments of our redemption and life in Him. May they support us in our ministries, nurture new vocations, and build up the Church in love and service. In all things may they minister before you to the glory of your name, and the care of your people after the example of the Good Shepherd himself, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.”
